At LooZoom, we understand the growing need for online content. Content that brands consume quickly and that should be affordable. Content that doesn’t need to be shot in High Definition because sometimes it is being displayed on smaller screens. Content that is beautiful but also genuine to better connect with a consumer looking for genuine experiences.
This is why we celebrate Everyday photographers, taking pictures with their devices. So we don’t say no to Low resolution pictures, we simply file them as web pictures.
SEARCHING FOR
GENDER
EQUALITY IN THE
ARAB WORLD?
YOU’LL FIND
IT ON LOOZOOM.
We purposely engineered our search results to promote gender equality. On LooZoom, for every man picture, you’ll get a woman picture right next to it.
Whatever profession or activity someone searches for: cooking, running, dancing, working, praying, nurse, doctor, singer, parent…
It’s always 50-50. And that goes both ways.
That means that, if we have more male doctor pictures, female doctors are going take priority in the display, and the excess male doctors are going get bumped to the last pages. And if we have an excess of women nurses, male nurses are going to take priority.
Why did we do this? Most advertising, branding and media start in an image library. And if the search results are equal, it gives gender equality a better chance to make into the real world. In our case we’d like to believe we’re helping tilt the gender balance in how the Arab World communicates.
As for photographers, this encourages them to go against the gender stereotypes and shoot images that promote gender equality. When they do, their picture has more chances of making it to the top of the result list.
And with time, we’re hoping that their fresh content will really tilt the balance. Until one day, the search will naturally display gender equality.

Because the region speaks all 3 languages, the team at LooZoom also speaks all 3 languages, so does the website and most importantly, all the pictures are tagged in all 3 languages. When photographers upload a picture, they are invited to tag it in the languages they know. The team at LooZoom then translates the tags to any missing languages, relying on both their human expertise, as well as technology.
As a result, users can search in whichever language they are comfortable with. They can even mix up the languages in their search and have a word in each language.
The founders of LooZoom are all Arabs and they come from an advertising and communication background.
Their growing trust in technology, Arab talent and a shared economy gave them the inspiration to build the first ever user generated image library for the Arab world.
They each have 15+ years of experience with multinational agencies across the region handling creative departments, clients and consumers alike. They’ve handled local and international brands in every country of the Middle East, covering the GCC, Levant and North Africa.
They’ve produced work and content for more than 1000 campaigns, have orchestrated more than 500 photoshoots and must have downloaded more than 10,000 images from image libraries throughout their careers.
With every campaign, every photoshoot and every image download, the need for a local image bank, that offers fresh and culturally relevant content, became more and more apparent.
Their experience in Creative communication also allowed them to set up a Creative department within LooZoom that guides local content and filters all images. That same department identifies the coming trends in communication and makes sure the LooZoom library and its everyday photographers stay relevant and up to date.
