I was raised in a mining town called Picher Oklahoma. The town was shut down for lead contamination. What was left behind is tailing piles of chat and waste. It closed in 2010 and we relocated up the highway in Baxter Springs Kansas. All that’s left of my home town is a statue of a gorilla on the highway running through.
